Making Good Choices TPA Edition
The key to me completing the edTPA successfully will be my
ability to plan out and manage my time well. Procrastination has always been my
own worst enemy and realizing that quality time is needed to complete the edTPA
well and successfully. Reading the handbook first and foremost will help in my
journey to not only setting a schedule to plan out the steps I need to take to
complete it on time but also to really comprehend the weight that the TPA holds.
Understanding the need to allow time for revisions and editing will be
extremely important in my process. Another thing that will help with my process
is understanding how I will be graded and being able to read the rubrics will
ease some of the stress by understanding what the graders are looking for.
Another thing I need to focus on before beginning my edTPA
is understanding how to go about researching proper theories to include in my
explaining and connecting to the lesson plans I will be providing in context to
the TPA’s themselves. Understanding they need to not only mention but support
and confirm the reason for what I am teaching is incredibly important.
Recording and understanding the steps have always been
something that I wasn’t worried about due to my mentor teacher being a trained
grader of the TPA she is also incredibly patient and helpful in explaining
difficult to comprehend information to me. The key for me through all of this
however will continue to be the organization aspect. Taking things one step at
a time, in a timely manner will keep me on tract to successfully completing the
edTPA. Keeping things in order and not
frantically spreading things out, jumping from step to step will allow me to
keep a clear head and finish my edTPA in a organized and timely fashion.
