Social Justice

Through my brief by exploratory research on social justice I found a few things that I can say for certain. First, being that social just ice is a process a long arduous is one that is built on the idea of equality for all through healthcare, food security, wage gap closure, and the general goal to allow every and anyone to live a life in peace and happiness as much as possible. The idea that no child should go hungry, that no woman should fear walking the street, that no human should be without warmth and shelter, that is what I found social justice to be

The most interesting thing I found in my research on social justice was the idea that it is something that we as humans should strive for but will never reach, and that those in the position of power, mostly white and mostly men are the ones who should be driving this force for equality. Now, that isn’t to say they should be in charge or that any other person shouldn’t push to do the same, but in the world today it is the straight whit male who has had the privilege of being put at the top of some imaginary power mountain that they are the ones who are able to divert that power to everyone else and in essence spread the wealth and equality that is social justice.

Social justice is something that we have the ability to pursue in our everyday life, each person, one day at a time. Fighting for things like wage equality, healthcare and hunger are not improbable dreams that are unobtainable. These are things that require selflessness and action. It will never be easy because things that to change from the top down and those at the top aren’t always ones to spread the wealth easily if you will. It is everyone’s job to realize that social justice is equality, and equality is something that can only be obtained by each individuals personal choice to decide the person sitting next to them and everyone around them deserves equality
